چکیده

On this paper, the electronic system and oceanographic instruments of a moored buoy are presented. The system has been designed by the SARTI research team to meet a very specific objective, which is to expand the capabilities of the underwater observatory OBSEA as a research and test platform, providing an infrastructure for testing instruments either at the seafloor or at the surface. The system currently has a meteorological station, a video camera and a 3G modem for telemetry, in addition to a connection to OBSEA and expansion ports for connecting other systems for tests.

The New Seafloor Observatory (OBSEA) for Remote and Long-Term Coastal Ecosystem Monitoring

A suitable sampling technology to identify species and to estimate population dynamics based on individual counts at different temporal levels in relation to habitat variations is increasingly important for fishery management and biodiversity studies. In the past two decades, as interest in exploring the oceans for valuable resources and in protecting these resources from overexploitation have ...

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Systems

To understand the physical and biological relationships often requires high resolution sampling far exceeding present capabilities. If spatially adaptive sampling can be developed, data resolution can be greatly improved over that presently possible with conventional sensor platforms. One technique to achieve both spatially and temporally adaptive sampling is an Autonomous Oceanographic Samplin...

Evaluation of Marine Surface Winds Observed by SeaWinds and AMSR on ADEOS-II

Marine surface winds observed by two microwave sensors, SeaWinds and Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR), on the Advanced Earth Observing Satellite-II (ADEOS-II) are evaluated by comparison with off-shore moored buoy observations. The wind speed and direction observed by SeaWinds are in good agreement with buoy data with root-mean-squared (rms) differences of approximately 1 m s–1 and...

Comparison of Kuroshio Surface Velocities Derived from Satellite Altimeter and Drifting Buoy Data

Sea-surface geostrophic velocities for the Kuroshio region calculated from TOPEX/ POSEIDON altimetry data together with in situ oceanographic data are compared with surface velocities derived from drifting buoy trajectories. The geostrophic velocities agree well with the observed velocities, suggesting that the Kuroshio surface layer is essentially in geostrophic balance, within measurement err...
